Please be aware that even though evacuations have been lifted, access to the burned areas, where some of our towers in Healdsburg and Geyserville are located, is still restricted. Lastly, our generator deployments in Sonoma, Kenwood, and rural Santa Rosa were successful today and PG&E has already begun restoring power throughout the area.

Kincade Fire and PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff - Update
October 30, 2019

KINCADE FIRE AND PG&E PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF – UPDATE: Vista's offices remain closed today (Wednesday) due to the remaining mandatory evacuations from the Kincade Fire for both our HQ and our employee 's homes.

We continue to have limited support right now as most of our employees had to evacuate. Our top priority remains the health and safety of our employees and their families.

For those in the Kincade Fire area: We have not had access to assess the condition of our tower sites in Northern Sonoma County or deploy emergency equipment. We still do not have an ETA to restore service. We will keep monitoring the situation and once county officials lift evacuations and open areas, we will work to get our techs back home to begin repairs/restorations on our affected services.

For those not in the Kincade Fire area: We ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work with limited resources and personnel during this time.

For those in areas affected by PG&E's PSPS: Generators were deployed in Napa yesterday and we are focusing our efforts on getting more out to our Sonoma, Kenwood, and rural Santa Rosa sites today. As power is restored, either by generator or PG&E, service will be restored (Please note you may need to reboot your router).

Again, thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We're happy to see our community rally around each other in a time like this. We are Sonoma County Strong <3.

Vista Broadband Increases Network Capacity in Cloverdale Area
January 9, 2017

The close of 2016 brought improved bandwidth capacities for Vista Broadband in the Cloverdale area. As part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement protocol, one of its key core sites responsible for serving northern Sonoma County was upgraded with improved fiber optic and microwave capabilities. This improvement allows Vista to deliver unprecedented speeds and reliability to customers in remote locations that are otherwise out of reach of conventional telco providers. In addition, to further enhance the reliability of its service offerings, Vista has also implemented a secondary/redundant network path out of Cloverdale as part of its commitment to high reliability.

Vista has slated many such infrastructure upgrades across its Northern California plant for 2017 as it moves to continually support the growing bandwidth demand placed on its facilities. While Vista can deliver Gbps fiber Internet to its core areas, it’s better known for its ability to deliver equivalent commercial class wireless Internet to remote business locations such as wineries. This service comes with a standard SLA that easily rivals fiber optic performance while staying extremely competitive against pricing typically found in the middle of the city.

Vista Broadband Expanding up the Napa Valley Corridor to Calistoga
June 7, 2016

Vista Broadband is expanding into Northern Napa Valley with plans to increase coverage and capacity to bring Calistoga high–speed Internet service in the 300Mbps/300Mbps range! The upgrade should be available to customers in the area by late 2016.

The upgrade into Calistoga is the latest expansion move for Vista Broadband and also opens the door to potentially deliver 1Gbps/1Gbps Internet to qualifying locations.

Vista Broadband Makes Moves for Additional Redundancy
January 7, 2016

2015 brought about the exciting addition of a tertiary upstream provider at Vista Broadband’s headquarters in Santa Rosa, California. In addition to adding capacity to the overall network, the third upstream provides a deeper layer of redundancy for Vista’s innovative, diverse media core.

Vista Broadband Continues to Improve Network Capacity on Sonoma Mountain
September 1, 2015

Vista has upgraded one of its privately maintained Sonoma Mountain broadcast sites serving the Petaluma and Santa Rosa area! The site, which has been designed with multiple wireless backhauls for redundancy and load balancing, has recently had one of its FCC Licensed Link backhauls upgraded. This equipment upgrade will deliver an additional 350Mbps/350Mbps to the site with the capability to upgrade its license to 1.6Gbps/1.6Gbps if needed. The upgrade was scheduled as part of Vista's proactive growth protocol which mandates continual monitoring, analysis, and upgrades across it infrastructure.

The North Bay's Leading ISP Makes Big Moves; Ranks #1
June 22, 2015

Last month Vista Broadband Networks was ranked #1 in the North Bay Business Journal's annual List of Internet Service Providers. The company has made big moves to earn that rank.

In this year's annual release of the Business Journal listing, Vista Broadband Networks, Inc. took the lead as the #1 Internet Service Provider in the North Bay. Since it was founded nearly 15 years ago, Scott Mindemann, Vista's CEO has been vigilant in ensuring its steady and calculated growth. "I knew we had tapped in to a true source of gold," said Mindemann, on the formation of Vista's unique infrastructure and products, "and I knew that the sky was the limit. But quality is more important than quantity. I wanted to be sure that we could provide the best product out there, along with the best service, before we grew too quickly."

It was this mentality that formed Vista's exceptionally strong network and customer focused team. With multiple back hauls over fiber optic lines and high capacity FCC licensed links (known as diverse path and diverse media), Vista's infrastructure design has demonstrated itself to provide the most flexible, economically scalable, and reliable Internet service in North America, boasting the capability to deliver high quality circuits into areas where other conventional providers fall short.

In 2013 the US Census Bureau collected reports from residents throughout the Bay Area about their Internet usage. Napa County, unfortunately, reported the lowest percentage of high-speed Internet use, reporting that nearly 15% of Napa County residents do not have access to a high-speed Internet connection, something Vista is working to change. "In today's world Internet access is not just a luxury, it's a necessity," said Mindemann. "We strive to not only reach areas that other providers are not able to, but to also deliver the highest quality of service to those areas." Vista recently completed an expansion and upgrade of its infrastructure in the St. Helena, Rutherford, and Northern Napa areas. Vista is now offering speeds upwards of 1.6 Gbps where broadband Internet was not available before.

With locations throughout Napa and Sonoma counties, Copper Cane Wines & Provisions relies heavily on Vista Broadband's network and support. Their IT Director, Art Ochoa commented, "The capabilities of Vista's infrastructure and team never cease to amaze me. Time and time again they have come through for us where other providers were not able to. We have very remote locations in Rutherford, St. Helena, and other parts of Napa and Sonoma counties, and Vista is delivering high-speed, reliable circuits to every one of those locations, often times better and faster circuits than what other providers deliver in the heart of town. I've been very impressed with their customer service as well. They are always there when I need them!"

Vista's most popular product is their AirFiber - this is a commercial class dedicated circuit which is delivered wirelessly but back hauls into Vista's privately maintained mixed media core meshed infrastructure. With this product Vista guarantees the same quality as fiber optic, but only asks a fraction of the price.

Vista offers an entire catalog of products to best fit any size business utilizing either AirFiber alone (microwave), Fiber Optic, or a seamless combination of the two, known as VistaHD©. Programs providing event services, or same-day, short term Gigabit access are also available.

In addition to the new expansions Vista has also made many significant fortification upgrades with their network. Working with the FCC, Vista has incorporated even more high-capacity licensed microwave paths throughout their infrastructure. "FCC Licensed Links are really the cream of the crop. They can put fiber optic lines to shame," said Paul Eggenberger, Vista's lead engineer. "Most people don't know about Licensed Links because until recently only huge broadcast entities, like TV or radio stations used them. Now we've got most of our infrastructure supported by them, and we’re delivering them to businesses all throughout Northern California and the Pacific Northwest."

Vista Delivers Live Streaming Capability for Biggest High-Tech Wedding in History
June 5, 2015

The Knot's Dream Wedding took place yesterday at Chateau St. Jean in Kenwood. Vista Broadband Networks, Inc. provided the high-speed Internet service which enabled the production crew to stream the wedding live on a global scale. Vista is a local ISP that serves all of Northern California.

Yesterday the North Bay's premier business class ISP, Vista Broadband Networks, Inc., powered the biggest high tech wedding of the year. The Knot's "Dream Wedding" was held at the picturesque estate of Chateau St. Jean Winery in Sonoma County's Wine Country. With the high-speed Internet provided by Vista the wedding was able to stream the event live on a global scale. The wedding was designed to showcase various cutting edge devices and Internet based technology, creating a high tech experience for everyone involved. Among others, the showcase included multiple drones, a mobile robotic camera, a robotic bartender, GoPro cameras, and discreet heart monitors to record the bride and groom's emotional states throughout the event.

With the 30 Mbps symmetrical Internet provided by Vista the event was seamlessly broadcasted live to an estimated 300,000 viewers worldwide. Three cameramen were on site delivering video feed over Vista's network to a live stream on TheKnot.com. The bride, groom, and officiate of the ceremony all wore wireless microphones that delivered the audio for The Knot's live stream.

Anja Winikka, Site Director for The Knot commented, "It's important to have a wedding that reflects the couple. There are many useful technologies that we could highlight and showcase, but we wanted to focus on what mattered to the couple most, and what was most practical to the wedding." The Knot truly created a personalized experience for the couple when they brought in a robot by Double Robotics. The robot attended the ceremony in place of the bride's mother, who was ill and unable to attend in person. The robot delivered live video and audio feed to the mother who watched remotely nearly 500 miles away. The bride's mother was also able to control the movements of the robot, allowing her to feel as though she was right there with them.

The high-speed Internet circuit provided at the event is part of Vista's Event Services product, which is available to businesses all throughout the North Bay, even in remote locations. It features the ability to deliver high-speed Internet to a location for short-term use. This is a service that compliments the beautiful wine country and the various events that take place year-round. This service has also proven valuable for disaster recovery, or emergency circuit needs.

"I've worked with Vista in the past and was always impressed," said Mary Jo Dale, Chateau St. Jean's Senior Brand Director. "I knew that we could rely on Vista to power this key event. They enabled the bride and groom to truly enjoy their dream wedding."

The high-speed circuit was delivered wirelessly via Vista's AirFiber network. This wireless connection backhauls into a fiber optic core that allows Vista to deliver fiber optic grade Internet at a fraction of the cost. Because it is delivered wirelessly Vista is able to reach remote locations, like Chateau St. Jean, and deliver reliable high-speed circuits to those locations.

Vista Broadband Begins Offering Pet Insurance to Employees
September 27, 2013

Vista Broadband Networks, Inc. has joined the ranks of one in three Fortune 500 companies and has decided to offer their employees Pet Insurance. The cost of veterinary care can be quite prohibitive and this excellent coverage will allow Vista’s employees, that choose to participate, an opportunity to defer the costs of pet healthcare. Since the official Pet Insurance policy was instated at Vista Broadband on August 6, 2013, it has already come in handy for one lucky employee. Donna Cochran, Vista’s office manager, purchased her Pet Insurance policy the day the policy was instated and it wasn’t a moment too soon. Fourteen days after purchasing her policy one of her dogs, Bentley, tore his ACL and required a very costly surgery. Had Mrs. Cochran not had Pet Insurance, thanks to Vista Broadband, the surgery would have cost her nearly $5,000 but instead cost her a minimal deductible amount. “Because I consider my pets my children, there was no doubt that I would choose to have the surgery required to repair Bentley’s torn ACL, regardless of cost. However, with the insurance, my out-of-pocket expense was only a $250.00 deductible. Needless to say, this was much easier on my budget than the full cost of the surgery. I am so grateful to be employed at Vista Broadband. Besides working with a team that I love, I also have an excellent benefit package that includes pet insurance for my two dogs.” In a time that companies are looking to save money by cutting or reducing benefits offered to their employees, Vista Broadband truly is an exception to the rule and considers the welfare of their employees and their families (pets included!), to be a top priority.

As a locally owned and operated company, we are proud to be a part of the community and events that make this such a great place to live! We are proud to announce that Vista has partnered with Sonoma Media Group in their work to preserve the Petaluma 4th of July fireworks show. We are looking forward to PTown4th and to seeing you all there!

About PTown 4th
A new locally owned radio station group has come forward to guarantee Petaluma a fireworks display at the Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds this Fourth of July. Newly created Sonoma Media Group, acquiring five local radio stations: Froggy 92.9, 97.7 The River, Hot 101.7, Mix 104.9, and News Talk 1350 KSRO is funding the fireworks display. The Petaluma Fireworks was in jeopardy of cancellation this year because the city had been unable to fit the traditional display into the Fairgrounds site, or identify an alternate location. With new development around the Fairgrounds, the space available for the required fall-out safety zone was at issue. The festivities at the Fairgrounds, to be called PTown4th, will start at about 3PM with family games provided by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. Live music will start at about 6 with the fireworks sometime after 9. Food vendors will be open at 4 and beer vendors at 5.

All five radio stations will broadcast live from the event, and will customize music programming to go with the fireworks. To find out more about the PTown4th check out their website at PTown4th.
